The company has developed a novel spectroscopy technology that significantly expands the capabilities of established analytical instruments, enabling measurements that were previously difficult, costly, or impractical to perform.

Founded by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Silvan Schmid, Dr. Josiane P. Lafleur, Dr. Niklas Luhmann, and Dr. Hajrudin Bešić and combining advances in nanotechnology, sensing, and analytical instrumentation, ILL is helping researchers and industry gain deeper insight into complex materials, particles, and contaminants across a wide range of applications. Its technology has relevance in fields ranging from environmental monitoring and advanced materials to life sciences and high-tech manufacturing, where increasing demands for precision are driving the need for more sensitive and accessible analytical tools.

The company has built on years of academic research and has already demonstrated strong validation from both the scientific community and early commercial users. With a focus on compatibility, usability, and performance, ILL aims to make advanced analytical capabilities accessible to a broader range of laboratories and organizations while opening the door to entirely new applications in spectroscopy and materials analysis.

Why we invested

Scientific instrumentation plays a critical role in enabling innovation across industries, yet many existing technologies struggle to keep pace with the growing demand for higher sensitivity, faster workflows, and more accessible analysis. Invisible-Light Labs addresses this challenge with a differentiated technology platform supported by strong scientific evidence, extensive real-world testing, and a highly experienced team.
